Ayurveda is a conjunction of two Sanskrit words “Ayus” which means life or living life and “Veda” which means the knowledge of the Science of Life. This system of medicine was created in the ancient land of India. The Ayurveda system consists of diet changes, Ayurvedic herbs, yoga, massage, marma therapy, meditation and breathing exercises.

Siddha medicine is a different and earlier approach to Ayurveda. It was mainly practiced in Tamil Nadu (a state in the south of India) and all the literature is written in Tamil language which is older than Sanskrit. Siddha focuses on seven elements saram (plasma) for growth, cheneer (blood) for muscle nutrition, ooun (muscle) for body shape, kollzuppu (fat) for oil balance and joint lubrication, enbu (bone) for body posture, moolai (nerve) for strength and sukila (seed) for reproduction.
